Amroth to Pembroke Cliffs and Castles About the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path Amroth marks the southern end of the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which winds its way around the coves and cliffs of the county as far as Poppit Sands. Much of the route is at cliff-top level, providing superb views of the sea, beaches and offshore islands with their wealth of marine and bird life. Elsewhere it follows gentler shorelines, including the outer reaches of the Milford Haven estuary, one of the finest natural harbors in the world. The entire route represents an impressive physical challenge to the walker, including 35,000 feet of ascent and descent. If you are planning to tackle the entire path from Amroth to Poppit Sands begin with Part 1 and continue on through Part 2 and finish with Part 3
The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path - Part 3 St David's to Poppit Sands
Amroth to Pembroke This section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path features stunning cliff top views of sea and sky, charming seaside villages, and several remains of Norman strongholds, such as the well-preserved castle at Manorbier, which overlooks the picturesque village, and commands extensive views over the beach and sea. The route winds past some of the areas loveliest, secluded beaches, to the National Trusts Stackpole Estate and the tiny harbor at Stackpole Quay. Beyond the ecologically unique Bosherston lily ponds lie the beautiful beaches of Barafundle and Broad Haven South. Between St Govans Head and Angle, the route follows cliffs that boast a quintet of south coast wonders the naturally formed cleft known as Huntsmans Leap; the tiny, ancient St Govans chapel impossibly tucked into a narrow fissure above a rocky beach; two lichen-covered rocks, jutting out of the sea, known as the Stacks; the natural arched stone formation of the Green Bridge; and the impressive Neolithic capstone at Devils Quoit. The adventure ends in Pembroke, which features another fine Norman castle, lovely millpond walks, and the entertaining Museum of the Home. Day 1:
