CHOICE OF 6 or 8 Day Tours from METZ or
TRIER to KOBLENZ (See Map)
Following
the wine route along Germany's Mosel river
A bike tour along the Mosel offers everything that
connoisseurs understand as a classical wine route. However, the Mosel
Bicycle Path does not only let the heart of wine lovers swell,
around
every bend you will find a tempting landscape that radiates peace and
beauty and splendid fortresses, monasteries and castles. These are the
reasons for the Mosel being one of Europes most varied and marvellous
river valleys.
ITINERARY:
We
meet in either in Metz in France (only 90 km from Saarbrücken in Germany)
the starting point of our 8 day Mosel tour or in Trier, the meeting point
of our 6 day tour. Metz is the place where France, Luxemburg and Germany
meet the Mosel valley and wind through its vineyards, forests,
fortresses, castles and picturesque villages. Enjoy 304 beautiful
kilometers and learn about the 2000 years of history of the Mosel valley.
Taste the fruity and light wines, stroll through picturesque little
villages and splendid streets of cities of world fame. Massive stone
houses and graceful half timbered houses set off each other and contribute
to the special charm of the region.
Route Features:
The
Mosel Bicycle Path
is well sign
posted and
leads mostly along the river banks and is usually
flat, apart from some slightly hilly passages.
It is fully
asphalted. Until Cochem we explore both
banks
of the Moselle, far off the traffic.
You bike on bicycle and
field paths with little or no traffic and almost car-free side roads.
After Cochem a divided broad cycle strip runs at the side of the road.
All daily stages or parts of them can also be covered by train (railway
mostly runs next to the cycle path) or by boat.
