This new programme combines a
river cruise with a city break. After embarkation on the cruise ship, which
covers over 1.600 miles from Passau all the way down to the Black Sea and
the Danube Delta you see the sights of the Romanian capital, Bucharest.
The program includes seeing the
sights of three other European capitals – Vienna, Budapest and Belgrade.

This cruise is available in two versions beginning in either Passau, Germany or Bucharest, Romania:
Cruise No 1 – 10 days - Cruise begins in Passau and ends in Bucharest
Cruise No 2 – 11 days - Cruise begins in Bucharest and ends in Passau
ITINERARY OF CRUISE NO 1 (day by day)
Cruise Passau–Danube Delta– Harsova + stay in Bucharest
Day 1
After these first scenic impressions of the Danube, our courier on board will welcome you with a cocktail before the official welcome dinner.
Day 2 - At about 10 a.m., the AMADEUS PRINCESS puts into port at Vienna. The entire day is at your disposal to discover the metropolis on the Danube. The city of music and joie de vivre where Sachertorte and Heuriger are just as famous as St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Imperial Palace.
See all the important sights on our Vienna sightseeing tour or explore this city full of tradition on your own. The ship leaves the port of Vienna at 6 p.m. and heads downstream for Budapest.
Day
3 -
Arrival at Budapest, the
capital of Hungary at 11 a.m. The magnificent buildings lining the right and
left banks of the Danube are an unforgettable sight. Our
Budapest sightseeing tour
encompasses all the major sights of the city.
After dinner enjoy an unforgettable evening cruise on the AMADEUS PRINCESS with a glorious view of the beautifully floodlit building on both banks of the river. A Gypsy band, specially engaged for this cruise, entertains you on board with lively music and you also see a performance by a Hungarian folklore group.
Day 4 - About 7 a.m. the ship docks at Kalocsa, a charming town in the Hungarian plains, known for its traditional embroidery and, above all, for the cultivation of paprika, Hungary’s national product. On the optional excursion Kalocsa – Hungarian Puszta you will witness a performance of traditional Hungarian horsemanship and visit the only paprika museum in the world, before re- joining the ship in Mohacs.
Day
5 -
Arrival in the morning at
Belgrade,
the capital of the Republic of Yugoslavia, situated at the confluence of the
Danube and the Save. In the afternoon you can join us on the city tour
Belgrade.
The bus takes you to where you can admire the mighty Kalemegdan fortress and
on to many more of this city’s impressive sights. After dinner, the optional
excursion "Belgrade
by Night" takes you
to "Skadarlija",
the well-known artists` quarter. At 11 p.m. the ship leaves the port of
Belgrade
and speeds on towards to Bulgaria.
Day 6 -
After a substantial breakfast, relax on the sun deck and take in the picturesque panorama as it glides by. Later in the morning, we come to one of the highlights of the cruise, the Cataract stretch (approx. 130 km long), the world famous rise of the Danube through the Carpathians and the foothills of the Balkans – the "Iron Gate". Then we traverse the locks of the two gigantic Danube hydroelectric power stations, Djerdap I and II, near the town of Orsova.
Day
7 -
Arrival in the morning at the
Bulgarian town of
Svistov. After
breakfast, we start the optional excursion "Veliko Tarnovo" to the
former capital of Bulgaria. Meanwhile the ship cruises to Rousse, where
those on the excursion come on board again. At 3 p.m. your vessel leaves
the harbour of Rousse
and heads downstream for the
Danube Delta.
Day 8 - Your cruise ship reaches Coral at 8 a.m. In the morning you can join an excursion with smaller boats into the special world of the Danube Delta. The Danube Delta covers an area of 4,340 km², and is fascinating for people who are interested in fauna and flora.
In the afternoon the AMADEUS PRINCESS progresses along the St. Georg canal to the very first kilometre of its length, i.e. to the point where the Danube flows into the Black Sea. Tonight, gather on board for a Captain’s gala Dinner to be followed by the show of the crew in the Panorama Bar.
Day 9 - In the morning the vessel arrives at Harsova. After disembarkation the approximately two hours drive to Bucharest takes you along the literally fields of Baragan and through small, picturesque villages. After the check-in at the hotel in Bucharest you can participate in the Bucharest sightseeing tour to experience the hustle and bustle of this capital city which is increasingly "Central European" in atmosphere, though some of the wide boulevards and vast buildings remind one of Paris.
Dinner will be served in a typical restaurant where a traditional Romanian band will entertain you with songs and dance.
Day 10 - After breakfast in your hotel, time at leisure or transfer to the airport.
