Begin in
France, high on the tallest mountain in Europe, then wind your way into
the beautiful Swiss Alps
Alpine Gorges, Glaciers
and Dinosaur Tracks
One
of the world's classic hiking routes. On
this walk, you will have the opportunity to experience both the French and
Swiss Alps staying at small typical alpine villages situated along the
Trient Valley.The Trient Valley, offering
incredible majestic views across the highest peak in Europe, is a
beautiful and dramatic background for this walking trip. Your trip starts
in Chamonix, nestled in a bustling valley at the foot of the highest
mountain in Europe. The Mont-Blanc,
at 15,622 ft., is home
to some majestic glaciers including the Mer de Glace, the Glacier Of
d'Argentiere and the Glacier du Trient.
On a clear day a visit up the Aiguille
de Midi is breathtaking you will feel on top of the world! You
then start your walk following mountain streams along the valley bottom to
the town of Le Tour. Having walked or taken the cable car to Col des
Posettes with its spectacular views over the Chamonix valley, you then
descend through a pine forest to the peaceful village of Le Buet
and cross from France into Switzerland to the
village of Finhaut at 1237m, which as the name implies is perched high on
the mountain with wonderful views. Cable cars and chairlifts enable you
to ascend to Emosson lake with dinosaur tracks close at hand or descend to
the Tęte Noir gorges.
Stay at cozy hotels and
enjoy fine cuisine at the end of your day's walk.
