View Roman ruins everywhere... deep green cypress., vast fields of sunflowers... white mountains always in the background. Cycle the vineyards of Chateauneuf de Pape and swim beneath the Pont du Gard. Track the footsteps of Van Gogh, experience a French bullfight in a Roman coliseum. Follow tree-lined lanes to Aix-en-Provence and spend a night in Cassis, one of the most scenic little ports on the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy the Provencals, the most fun-loving people of France, and their wonderful country cooking and shops crammed full of local crafts.
Tour Profile: Provence is a rolling countryside with a few steep and long climbs. You will experience some heavy traffic when entering the towns.

Day 1 - Orange Join us at our comfortable little hotel in Orange. After settling in and enjoying a bit of lunch under a canopy of Plane trees we'll take an afternoon warm-up ride through the vineyards of the Cote-du-Rhone and visit the best preserved Roman theatre in Europe. This evening we'll celebrate new friendships at our get-acquainted reception and dinner. Day 2 - Orange- Avignon Cycle among the vineyards of Chateauneuf de Pape, a world-renowned wine area. Follow the Rhone river to the Abbey of Chartreuse, home to the liqueur and color of the same name. Visit the Palace of the Popes in Avignon and spend a night in this medieval walled city.
Day 3 -Avignon - St Remy We'll make an early stop at the Pont-du-Gard, a Roman aqueduct that is an artistic and engineering marvel and take a swim in its shadow. Cycle on tiny, quiet roads, stopping at the castles of Beaucaire and Tarascon en route to St Remy, the birthplace of Nostradamus where we'll spend the night. Day 4 - St Remy - Arles Just outside of St Remy is the asylum where Van Gogh painted so many of his masterpieces. Stand in his footsteps, see what he saw. Then visit the oldest farm house in France and the Roman excavations at Glanum. Cycle through the best olive groves in France to Le Baux, perched high on a promontory with a view that goes on forever. Then on to Arles, stopping at Daudet's Mill, where France's favorite author worked. Arles is a Roman walled city with French bullfights in the Coliseum (The bulls live on to fight another day and may even become famous!). Visit the Roman theatre, the St Trephine Cloisters and Museum of Pagan Art. Enjoy an evening stroll along the Rhone, with the moonlight reflected on its wide, smooth surface.
Day 5 - Arles - Aix-en-Provence Pedal through tree-lined lanes, small villages and along the shore of a great bay to Aix-en-Provence. Have a coffee on the beautiful Cours Mirabeau. Visit the studio of Cezanne, and tonight, enjoy a little baccarat at the elegant casino.
Day 6 - Aix-en-Provence - Cassis A day of spectacular scenery as we head for Cassis and the Mediterranean Sea, one of the most charming little seaports on the French Riviera. We'll enjoy our farewell party and, afterward, take a late night stroll along the water.
Day 7 - Cassis - We'll have a long breakfast while saying our good-byes.

Trip Information: Upon confirming your reservation, we will send you our "Bon voyage" kit. It contains many useful bits of travel information, including what to expect on the tour, how to get and keep in shape, bicycle touring techniques, passport and visa requirements, a suggested list of clothing and things to pack, hints from previous tour members, a guide to road signs, and other information. About 30 days prior to departure, you will receive a cultural information packet and an itinerary of hotels, complete with their addresses and phone and fax numbers, so the folks back home can keep in touch
Accommodations: WorldVentures plans its trips based on double occupancy of rooms. If you are traveling alone, we will make every effort to provide a roommate if you request it. If a roommate is not available, one-half of the single supplement will be charged. It you request a single room, the full single supplement will be charged.
