The Itinerary:

Day 1 -  Arrival in Bayeaux

Possibility to admire the amazing 11th century Bayeux Tapestry showing the conquest of England by William, Duke of Normandy. Take the occasion of visiting the memorial museum of Bayeux which covers globally the military events immediately following the landings of June 1944.

 

Day 2 -  Loop on landing beaches    50 km/31 mi

A loop to the landing beaches such as Omaha beach. Have a walk into the path of history on a sandy beach before reaching the American cemetery. Then continue the ride to the 'Pointe du Hoc' which was one of the strategic points in the German fortifications along the Normandy coast.. Then, follow the seaside routes to Colleville sur Mer and its very impressive American Cemetery before reaching Bayeux.

 

Day 3 -  Bayeux - Caen     55 km/34mi

Cycling to Arromanches where you can see floating in the sea some vestiges of the artificial harbour "Mulberry" conceived by Winston Churchill. Proceed along the cost to Courseulles sur Mer and Juno beach where the Canadians landed and where you can visit different memorials to this heritage. and Port en Bessin before reaching Bayeux.Then go back inland to reach the nice town of Caen with its two majestic abbeys.

 

Day 4 -  Caen - Cabourg     33 km/20 mi

Leaving the city, cross the Pegasus bridge, where the English army won an important victory in 1944, it's time to enjoy a coastal ride and discover the magnificent "cote Fleurie" and the charmingly elegant town of Cabourg. Cabourg is a much loved family resort with pleasant walks along promenade over two miles long sheltered by a sea wall. This is the town where it is said that Marcel Proust found the inspiration for one of his novels.

 

Day 5 -  Cabourg - Honfleur     53 km/33 mi

Back to the “Pays d'Auge” area reaching the village of Beaumont-en-Auge with its colorful half timbered cottages before reaching Deauville. Deauville, lady of the French coast, with its most glamorous seaside resort, symbolizes elegance, prestige and sophistication. This is also the city of the horse and the gateway to Calvados. Continue by cycling along the coast to reach Honfleur and its charming harbor. Honfleur is a small medieval town, revealing her riches to all those who take the time to look... The past is in evidence all around... calling to you... The Old Dock surrounded by picturesque narrow houses, this is with no doubt what catches the eye of every visitor upon their first visit to Honfleur. But the town is also St Catherine, St Etienne, St Léonard churches, the Lieutenance, the old Salt Stores, the medieval cobbled streets ... Honfleur is also recognized as one of the cradles of Impressionism and artists’ favorite place.

 

Day 6 -  Departure

Breakfast and the end of the tour.

DOSSIER: On the first day of the tour you will be given maps, road book, fact sheets and tourist information.

 

THE BICYCLES: Provision of 21-speed bikes, equipped with two saddlebags, a high visibility jacket, anti-helmet, map holder and repair kit. Adjustment by a cycling specialist.

 

IN CASE OF BREAKDOWN - We do not intervene for flat tires. However, should any breakdown occur that prevents the completion of the days journey we will make repairs on the road. A phone number will be provided. All other types of necessary repairs that do not make cycling impossible will be repaired at the hotel each night.
