This tour combines the best of all tours: Incredible mountain
scenery, riverside cycling through wine country,
biking along the beaches and lakeside towns of three beautiful
blue lakes, medieval timbered villages, castles along the Rhine.
Cycle through four German speaking countries and enjoy the
hospitality and good food, wine
and beers they are famous for.
Tour Profile:
Please note that on the approach to Zurich and on the distance
Zurich-Rapperswil
you have to be alert to motor traffic, because the cycle track
runs along the road. Individual sections of the cycle paths at
the
Walen lake are closed on weekend for cyclists, that's why you
must change over for short distances to the wheel strips at the
road. You have also the
possibility of covering the appropriate distances by ship.
The navigation
enterprises of Lake Zurich and the Walen lake carry also
bicycles, if the extent of
utilization permits it.
The Itinerary:
Day 1
-
Individual arrival in Augsberg or Innsbruck Arrival in Augsberg with bus transfer before tour or direct arrival to Innsbruck. Issue of the rental bikes and tour information at your hotel in Innsbruck (The old part of town, the town tower and the Golden roof) in the evening.
Day 2

Innsbruck to Imst
65km/40mi On the former Treidelweg (Treidel Path) along the Inn river and through the small villages (churches worth seeing, old aristocratic houses, fortress ruins) to Stams (baroque Cistercian convent, convent museum) on through Maiming to Imst.
Day 3
-Imst
- Fussen
45-55 km/28-34mi To Hahntenjoch (2000 m) by bus, except arrival in May via Fernpass. A wonderful downhill ride to Elmen and Lech follows. The splendid mountain landscape, the mountain river and the town of Reutte get you into the right mood for a dream journey. The city of Fussen, surrounded by magnificent peaks of the Alps and blue-green mountain lakes invites you for a stroll around the city (pedestrian zone, you see the outline of the Via Claudia).
Day 4

Fussen - Schongau

King Luis
fairy tale castles in Konigswinkel - Hohenschwangau and
Neuschwanstein - and at the valley station of the Tegelberg you
should see the uncovered Roman thermal springs. The world famous
Wieskirche (church) -
the
epitome of
Bavarian rococo - is the next highlight. Through Steingaden and
Pelting,
you will
experience the highlights of the landscape and will arrive in
Schongau filled with with good impressions.
Day 5

Schongau -
Landsberg/Lech
45 km/28mi
Schongau - former Bavarian border fortress - with fortified passages
on the town wall that can still be accessed - gives evidence of the
past. The splendid view over the Lech Valley promises greatness. Old
part of town (Romanesque basilica with vaults), Hochenfurch, Epfach
(the Roman Abodiacum, Roman museum) and Vilgertshofen (baroque
pilgrimage church) are the places of interest before you reach
Landsberg.
Day 6

Landsberg - Lake Amersee - Landsberg
approx. 45 km/28mi
Along side
roads you cycle via small, baroque villages to the western bank of
the Lake until you reach Utting. If you like you can visit the
monastery of Andechs by
ship (not
included). The monastery is located in the village of Herrsching
(opposite the Lake). Afterwards you cycle slightly hilly back to
Landsberg. You will see lots of baroque onion domes on your way to
your hotel.
Day 7

Landsberg/Lech
- Augsburg
approx.
50 km/31 mi You should see the mediaeval city centre of Landsberg/Lech - embedded in a wild-romantic river bed of the river with the same name - the historic town hall and the Gothic Bavarian gate. Through Kaufering am Lech to Konigsbrunn (with the 11 km long, best preserved part of the Via Claudia), into the old Bavarian duke city of Friedberg and on to the Fugger city of Augsburg with the famous Fuggerei (trading company of the Fugger family and an old part of Augsburg) from the year 1516. Numerous historic monuments from all epochs give the city its distinctive tone, e.g. Elias Holls (town hall). The Roman museum is worth seeing.

N CASE OF BREAKDOWN
- We do not intervene for flat tires. However, should any breakdown
occur that
prevents the completion of the days journey we will make repairs on
the road. A phone number will be provided. All
other types of necessary repairs that do not make cycling impossible
will be repaired at the hotel each night.
