ITALY    THE LAGOON ISLANDS OF VENICE AND THE BRENTA CANAL

Venetian colors and magic... "See Venice... Navigate on the Basin San Marco: A sensational view of the most prestigious quarter of the city."

Cruising on the famous Lagoon of Venice and the Brenta Canal, revel in the romance and culture of Italy's most celebrated province. From the escapades of Casanova to the refined palatial villas of the Doges and traditional fishing ports of Murano and Burano, there is plenty of history to be discovered. The timeless city of Venice is built on 118 tiny islands. Uniquely road free, gondolas and boats provide the only transport. Stroll through the maze of narrow streets and enjoy window shopping as you pass exclusive boutiques and antique markets. Order a strong espresso or rich cappuccino from a sidewalk cafe and enjoy watching la dolce vita pass by! Cruise under the bright Italian sun, on the open spaces of the the Venetian lagoon, a truly liquid plain shimmering like silver, from where translucent campaniles can be made out on the horizon... Follow the rustic channel poles, and encounter fisherman's villages located on small every so charming islands. Here. the facades of the quay houses create surprising bright colored frescoes. On another day cruise along the beautiful Brenta Canal and step into the history of Venetia. Along its green banks lie pasturelands, vineyards and magnificent villas built the Doges of Venice.

Flavors of the region: The distinctive taste of fresh olives complements an ice cold glass of sweet Italian wine before dinner. Tickle you palate with delicious parmesan generously scattered over ripe vine tomato pasta or cut into wedges on warm, crusty bread. On Burano island, indulge in a busolai - a sweet doughnut shaped biscuit that makes the perfect accompaniment to strong coffee or rich hot chocolate.
