Ireland   THE EMERALD CRUISE

"The Irish sun and moors have not altered in a thousand years... Neither has the smoothness of the stout."

The astral light is one of the charms of Ireland -- a light that could be coming from anywhere, making the sky fluorescent blue, lighting up the oversized clouds and highlighting the moors with extraordinary greens... You are in one of the most beautiful countries on earth: It beckons you on a unique and spellbinding route. Cruise freely along vast natural spaces, from rivers to lakes, between rolling moors, forests and reeds... Further: A realm of legends unveils itself... standing stones and strange Celtic monuments, remains of glorious castles and stone walls... Enjoy the attractions of this unspoilt paradise: Quality fishing, practice your golf or ride a horse without further ado... Tonight, in a pub, get to know the locals and join in a Gaelic song with everyone.

Flavors of the region: The most traditional drink of Ireland is without doubt, the famous brown "stout" beer, thick and creamy, made by Guinness or Murphy's but don't miss out on the taste of the excellent Irish whiskies, and authentic "Irish Coffee"... Rich and tasty Irish stew with lamb, fresh vegetables and thick gravy is sure to fill any empty stomach. Thick soda bread and pink smoked salmon are also Irish favourites

Our cruise boats are located in the city shown in red on the map: Click on Carrick-on-Shannon or Portumna or Belturbet on the map to discover the cruising possibilities and the type boats from our boating center.

Cruising Hints: From our base at Carrick-on-Shannon, you can cruise north towards Lough Erne or south through a series of lakes and long river stretches with very few locks. The many lakes offer an infinite variety of places to explore, but some care must be taken when crossing them, especially on windy days. It is important to have a copy of one of the excellent navigation charts on board and follow the channel.
