Italy's Aeolian Islands Sicily's Volcanic Island Paradise The Islands of Stromboli, Vulcano, Lipari and Mt Etna's Lava Flows and New Craters Islands, sea and mountains, gastronomy and culture… the real Sicily Day 1 - Arrival at Catania Airport and departure for Milazzo by bus. Continue by hydrofoil to Lipari, one of the most beautiful islands of the Aeolian archipelago. Briefing about the tour by the tour leader; free afternoon to do shopping and to discover the beauty of the island. Dinner fish basis in a typical restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight staying. Day 2 - Breakfast in hotel; transfer by motorboat to to the island of Vulcano to discover this fantastic island, noted for its secondary volcanic activities such as sulphur springs, mud baths, vent holes and so on. Climb up to the crater along a winding pathway which leads to the highest summit of the volcano, from where there is a splendid view of the Aeolian islands. Lunch in restaurant; visit of the small typical centre and possibility to swim in the crystal, clear water of Vulcano; in the evening return to Lipari. Dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight in hotel. Day 3 - Breakfast in hotel and transfer by motorboat to the island of Stromboli, the kingdom of Eolo, god of the winds; climb to the summit to see the impressive continuous, eruptive activity from close up; picnic lunch during the excursion. In the afternoon transfer to Panarea, and visit of the small centre; evening re-entry to Lipari. Dinner in restaurant, local products basis and overnight in hotel. Day 4 - Breakfast in hotel and transfer by motorboat to the island of Salina. A charming walk brings us to the port of S. Marina di Salina, crossing the "Fossa delle Felci" (Ditch of Ferns) and on up to the peak of the island, the highest point of the Aeolian archipelago (962 m.). Lunch in a restaurant local product basis where clients will taste the savoury "Malvasia" the famous sweet wine of Salina. Return down to the area of Rinella on the opposite side of the island, where, weather permitting, there will be time for a swim. Return by motorboat to Lipari, dinner in restaurant and overnight in hotel. Day 5 - Breakfast in hotel. This day will be dedicated to discover the island of Lipari; the excursion will start with the visit of the archaeological museum, the old castle, and the centre village. Lunch in a restaurant; Free time in the afternoon for shopping and a swim. In the late afternoon tour of Lipari by car. Dinner in restaurant and overnight in hotel. Day 6 - Breakfast in hotel. Transfer by motorboat to Milazzo and then by bus on to Marinello, a wonderful Nature Reserve at the foot of Tindari. Walk along the seashore and through the delightful scenery of the small lakes. From here we can climb the charming pathway, on foot, up to the Sanctuary of Tindari. Visit to the Greek remains and Greek theatre of Tindari. Continue to Novara di Sicilia a little, typical small village in the Nebrodi Mountains at 800 meters above sea level. Special lunch local product basis in a typical farm-house. In the afternoon continue to Taormina, cutting Nebrodi mountains, passing from Tirreno sea area to Ionio sea area through the wonderful landscape of the inside of Sicily; evening arrival in Taormina area. Accommodation in hotel; dinner in a typical "Trattoria" and overnight stay in hotel Day 7 - Breakfast in hotel. Transfer by bus to the southern zone of Mount Etna near Rifugio Sapienza, from where we continue on foot to a height of 2,000 m, to see the recent lava flows and new craters. Lunch in a typical farmhouse of Etna area, local products basis; Short afternoon re-entry to Taormina and free time to do same shop in the main street or for visiting the small medieval centre, with its Greek theatre and Corvaja Palace. Special farewell dinner in a restaurant overseeing the wonderful golf of Taormina. Day 8 - Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to Catania visit of the Baroque town; transfer to the airport and end of service. About Our Guided Walking Tours: WorldVentures Guided Walking Tours, unlike our guided cycling tours, are not led by WorldVentures Staff members. We have partnered with local tour companies in the region of the walk and they operate these tours with their own regional guides.
