Lovely small villages and lakes are settled at the feet of the Mountain “Traunstein”. Great daily tours are taking you from “Gmunden”, “Traunkirchen” and “Ebensee” up to the lonesome mountain world above the crystal clear lake Traunsee. ITINERARY:

Day 1 - Arrival at Ebensee.

All the information, walking maps and vouchers for this trip will be handed today out. First overnight stay.

Day 2 - Ebensee – Rindbach – Gassl stalactite cave – Ebensee (about 6 hours)  10km/6.2mi

A easy walk starts from “Ebensee Rindbach” along the “Rindbach” Valley, passing by the waterfalls, along a marked hiking path up to a hut and to the entrance of the “Gasslhöhle” (Cave) This active stalactite cave is, because of its colours, one of the most famous in Austria. The guided tour lasts approx 50 min. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 3 -Cable car up the Mountain “Feuerkogel” – walking tour down to Ebensee (about 6 hours)  8km/5mi

Take the “Feuerkogel” cable car up to the plateau. This is one of the most popular walking areas in Austria. In pure mountain air, follow the marked hiking path to the “Helmeskogl”, which offers you a splendid view over the area: the Mountain range “Totes Gebirge” and the village “Ebensee”. The decent walk is passing “Gsollstube” and “Haselwaldstube” to the valley of the stream “Traun”. Follow the shore at the river back to “Ebensee”. Overnight stay.

Day 4 - Ebensee – “Großer Sonnstein” – “Sonnstein Hütte” – Traunkirchen (about 4 hours) 3.5km/2.2mi

From „Ebensee“ you use the uphill path to the Mountain „Sonnstein”. At the peak, you can expect a beautiful view across lake “Traunsee”. After a short decent walk, you arrive at the hut “Sonnsteinhütte”, which is a perfect place for a rest. You continue today's hike to “Traunkirchen”. Overnight in “Traunkirchen”.

Day 5 - Resting Day in “Traunkirchen”

This day can be used for recreation or for an easy walk along the “Via Historica”. Signs along the route will tell you interesting facts about the history of the region. Return to “Traunkirchen”. Overnight stay.

Day 6 -Boat Ride to the Station “Hoisn” – “Dürrenberg” – “Laudachsee” – “Grünberg” - "Gmunden"

(about 3.5 hours) 8km/5mi

You cross the Lake Traunsee, to “Hoisn”, a famous inn right at the lake shore. Up to the Mountain “Dürrenberg”. From here you follow an easy path to the hidden lake “Laudachsee”, where the “Ramsauer Alm” (Hut) invites you to take a rest. The path leads you further on to the Mountain “Grünberg”. After a down-hill ride with the cable car you keep walking on to Gmunden. Overnight stay.

Day 7 - Gmunden 

The famous Austrian town, with its Italian flair and world wide known ceramic production, has lots of sight to offer. A stroll from the town hall along the promenade takes you to the castle “Schloss Orth”. Or take the chance to visit the ceramic factory. Overnight stay.

Day 8 - Boat Ride from Gmunden to Ebensee 

On this boat trip, you can enjoy a last view over the beautiful lake and its surroundings, which you will take as an unforgettable souvenir back home.  Departure for home.
